This route deviates from the signposted walk from the car-park. The recommended route is straight up and down via Miller's Bog. You will need good waterproof boots for some sections as the section skirting round Mount Shade is along a semi abandoned path with boggy sections. Also, the marked juntion near the head of Thack Burn is very easy to miss. This is a very good way of avoiding the crowds for at least part of the way.
