Parking is extremely limited and the small car park holds no more than about 6 or 7 vehicles. There are places further down the road, before you reach the car park, but very few where you can park without getting a ticket. There is a bus stop where the walk starts and arriving by bus rather than car is less stressful! This is a very popular walking area.
The walk climbs steadily to the top of Cat Bells (about a mile and taking about an hour) before continuing on to High Spy and then turning downhill through the old quarry workings. The route is obvious for much of its length, apart from the turn just past High Spy; aim towards the fence which has a stile in it.
