About trip
Start at the car park (50p charge)and follow the dam towards Black Hill. Continue on the path with the trees to your right and head towards Round Hill. Keep to the path bearing west until you reach the road by Cold Edge. Turn right and follow the road past Knoll Hill and pass Warley Moor Reservoir on the left. There are old Delph quarries to the right. After about 3 miles take the path off to the right towards Nab Hill. Just lower down the hill to North side of the cairn lies the Stanza stone (2 pieces). Continue eastwards along the path along the ridge, passing both Great and Little Cloughs and Hambleton Top until you reach Hambleton Lane. Turn right and follow the path south (with Thornton Moor reservoir to your left) and bear slightly right to follow the beck (passing a stone bench) down to Ogden water. At the bridge bear right to cross the beck and then follow the gravel path anti-clockwise around the reservoir and then along the dam back to the car. For lunch, turn right on Keithly road and there is the Moorlands Inn pub after 3/4 mile on the left. Open weekdays midday until 10pm for food/drink.
