Start at the Cross Keys Inn at Saddleworth and head downhill past the church and past Ryefields to the Pennine Bridleway.Turn right to and through Holly Grove until you reach the road. At the junction take the road past Lee Cross to Kiln Green then bear right along the path by the ponds and carry on up to Diggle then turn right, go past the farm and then right again and follow the path across fields to Running Hill Head. Turn left onto the lane and then across the next road onto a path going uphill and past Slades Barn. Turn left uphill along the path and then right Slades Rocks. Carry on towards Shaw Rocks but take a left turn towards Holmfirth Road with views over Dovestone reservoir. Turn right and follow the ridge round past Upper Wood Edge and Board Hill Brow to the Obelisk and 'Pots and Pans' stone. Carry on along the path heading downhill to the bridle path at Bitches and turn right and then left at Pobgreen and downhill back to the Cross Keys Inn for lunch and liquid refreshment.
