About trip

As you ride out of Ingleton and leave the road you are met with a short sharp climb onto Scales Moors where you’ll find masses of impressive Yorkshire Limestone Pavement. The trail is mostly grassy here as you make your way towards the Ribblehead Viaduct. Before you hit the viaduct you need to head north and under the train line. This is a great path shared by people making the ascent up Whernside so be nice to the walkers! It’s a bit testing with some challenging obstacles along the way; can you make it across the river or clear the bridge?

After that the gradient increases, there are a few steps and you will eventually need to push for a brief amount of time. You’ll soon be back on your bike and pedalling over the Great Wold but watch out for puddles as some can be quite deep! The is proper Yorkshire riding now as you get sandwiched between dry stone walls and begin to descend. It’s gets steeper with some big ruts in the middle section making it a bit technical so take care. After that little challenge you’ll end up in Dent which is a great place to stop off before the next section.
