About trip
Although not high in mileage, this wild moorland circuit can be tough going, with trackless sections on remote moor and some fairly intricate route-finding. Don’t attempt in mist, but if you choose a good day you will be rewarded with a fantastic, wild country walk that visits a possible druid altar at Alcomden Stones, a remote and little-visited summit and a mysterious triangular marker stone. By Steve Goodier. Route: Is it for me? A rough moorland route with good paths in places but some really rough trackless walking as well. Good navigational skills required Stiles 1 Start/Parking: Roadside parking on south side of Ponden Reservoir, reached over dam wall, grid ref SD992369 Nearest town Keighley Refreshments None Public toilets None Public transport None Maps: Ordnance Survey Explorer OL21; Landranger 103 From Country Walking magazine, to subscribe visit www.GreatMagazines.co.uk/CountryWalking © Copyright Bauer Media Limited 2011.
