There’s a large car park close to the dam where there’s also a cafe: Caffi Clywedog. The cafe serves a ‘plant based’ menu and is not open every day at the time of writing. Check their website (http://www.cafficlywedog.co.uk) for opening days and times.

However, the what3words address takes you to a layby with enough room for about 5 cars at the start of the walk. You will pass another, grass parking area just before the cattle grid on the way to the layby to which you could return if the layby is full.

This isn’t a long walk but it’s a lovely one that follows the side of the reservoir before climbing the hill on the return section. There are terrific views of the dam, reservoir and surrounding countryside: beautiful.
