About trip
This is a gentle stroll really, a nice meander around Warfield, taking in a nice cricket ground, pub and ancient church so you can get some exercise, watch a few overs and have a swift half on a Sunday afternoon. Start out from Frost Folly. If you wanted a picnic before heading out then there are chairs and tables for just that purpose. When you are ready turn left out of the car park and head down the lane past fields and old farm buildings. At the bottom of the lane, turn left until you reach Osbourne Lane where you turn right and continue to walk for about half a mile. You'll pass over a nice stream half way along and you can stand for a while and listen to the water flowing under the bridge. Half a mile on and you'll pass Warfield Cricket Ground, there is entertainment for the kids with swings and climbing frames. There are a few benches to rest and if you follow the road you will reach the crossroads of Warfield Street. For the thirsty there is a Pub, the Plough and Harrow which will do food and on summers days, live music too. Turn left onto Warfield Street and follow along for about half a mile, passing Bakery Mews which is where the old Warfield Bakery once stood. Keep on the left hand path and follow it onto Bracknell Road passing the entrance to Warfield House, now closely guarded private land. After 100 yards turn left onto Malt Hill and follow it for about 3/4 of a mile passing over a small stream and eventually reaching a left turn, Church Lane, signposted to Warfield Church. Walk down Church Lane, past the Rectory until you reach the Church on your left. Opposite the Church there is a track running adjacent to the cemetery. Take the track for 50 yards and pass through the stile. Turn left and take a view across the fields, they look stunning! Walk down the track and at the end, follow it to the right, then to the left. Look back and see the Church nestled in the fields. Walk up the path and you will find yourself back at the picnic area. Enjoy!!
