About trip

This was a gorgeous walk through the Kent countryside near Sevenoaks. We walked this clockwise from the car park beside the road at Carter’s Hill following the Greensands Way as far as Shipbourne before looping back. The walk is near Knole Park, which was crazy busy on the Thursday during lockdown that we chose to walk, but the walk from One Tree Hill was much quieter and on the return half we met nobody. We stopped at Shipbourne for our lunch: a bench in the churchyard to be precise! This is a muddy walk with long, boggy sections and, after rain, very muddy stretches, but nothing could detract from the autumn colours and scenery. A couple of miles along the walk you also reach Ightham Mote and this is definitely worth a visit if it’s open and you’re not covered in mud! You could also start and finish your walk here. There is a cafe here and toilets, also.
