About trip

The route has been researched specifically for mountainbikers, with safe road crossings and terrain that is rideable on bikes whatever the weather [barring deep snow and ice] It could be used by horseriders with minimal changes. This route has been tested in really wet conditions and the only constraint would be spate rivers and streams in flood. I've put it together at the point where there is high moorland extending almost entirely east west across the breadth of Wales. To my knowledge any other trans wales route would have far more road. The total main road on this is less than a mile. and that's almost entirely through Rhayader. The terrain is pretty remote so take proper gear to prevent exposure and make use of the taxi service to move your kit from overnight stop to overnight stop All the info you need to plan the route is on www.imba-uk.com Healthy casual riders with plenty of outdoor experience could enjoy this route in 5 or 6 days Fit enthusiastic riders should allow 4 Hard riding types can do it in 3 Adventure Racers and Triathletes etc could do it in 2 in the summer And Jon Houlighan , Gazzer Tompsett , the Headings and Aiden and their ilk might knock it off in one, Jerry the clog 2005
