About trip
A six mile route based in Ramsbottom. All steepish walking is out of the way in the first couple of miles. Walk up Harcles Hill on the way from Peel Tower to Pilgrim's Cross is optional. Note that there are some footpath closures around the river Irwell, so make sure to use the route shown down Chatterton Road. Lots of varied terrain and spectacular views in all directions. The walk through Stubbins wood is very pleasant. Don't expect to meet many people on this route, and expect to see lots of nature. This route is borrowed from here, which provides clear and thorough directions: http://www.visitmanchester.com/articles/manchester's-countryside/trails/walk-13/
