If you haven’t been here before, get yourself along ASAP. Navigation is difficult and you really need some local knowledge, so try and tag along with a group ride, or watch where people go. The sandy ground drains well and there is a choice of technical single track or fire roads so is suitable for all. We wouldn’t have much luck trying to direct you around Swinley Forest, as there are lots of different (and changing trails), and you would spend too much of your time looking at the map. Ideally the best way to explore this area is with some local knowledge, so visit www.bobmbc.com for the Berks on Bikes MTB club who do group rides. Alternatively you can go exploring yourself (and watch where others go), and use this map to find out where you have ended up, as it is very easy to lose your sense of direction in this Forest.
