Some of the views provided by this walk are stunning, particularly the one looking north into Dovedale from High Hartsop Dodd. It is so good Wainwright made point of it in his pictorial guide to the Eastern Fells. Starting with a steep ascent the walk is tough from the start but once on Hartsop above How the gradient eases with nice undulations, a climb to Hart Crag, more easy walking and then a final sting; it is a steep descent off High Hartsop Dodd requiring concentration. 6.7 miles (10.8 km) 3 - 5 hours Anti-clockwise
