About trip

Ideally situated on the western edges of Kinder, Hayfield is the ideal starting point for quite a few Peak District routes. The tracks up Coldwell Clough through to Jacobs Ladder give access to the Edale valley and closer to home there are the rocks of the Royches, Chinley Churn and some excellent riding around Kinder reservoir. The trails to the east of Hayfield make for quite an obvious, and well known, route. We talked to the local riders who agreed that the established Hayfield loop was a good ride but that the end could be improved. The route presented here is their version, deviating at the end to take in an extra section up and over Lantern Pike. This route includes one of our favourite trails in the Peak District. It's only a mile long and drops just 350 feet but it's fast flowing singletrack with multiple lines and rocky outcrops. A must do route.
