About trip
Another route that's a mixture of on and off road. Probably possible on a hybrid but I'd definitely recommend a mountain bike.
Start out of New Addington by heading down Lodge Lane (you can take the road but we normally take the path that runs from the big roundabout down on the left side of the tram tracks). On road work your way back up to the top of Court Wood Lane in Forestdale and ride up through the woods to the entrance to Old Farleigh Golf Club (which is also a fun descent in it's own right). Turn on to Old Farleigh Road and then take the path on the left which goes right up to The Harrow. At The Harrow turn left on the road and stay on road until you get to the woods which pass behind the cemetary. At the end of that cross the Limpsfield Road and ride down the flint path by the side of Waddon Golf Course (lots of fun flat out, especially at night), past the club house and up to the road.
Once you've worked your way down on to the drive for the girl school (I think it's part of cycle route 21) you start a long slow tarmac drag to the bottom of Great Church Wood. The ride up through Great Church Wood is good fun but will test both your lungs and legs (for an alternate route keep going up the drive to the bottom of Ganger's Hill and work up through the woods there (which will give you just the same level of workout).
Once you're at the top of Ganger's Hill you're back on the road towards Botley Hill Farm (which is a good place for a well earned pint before heading downhill towards home). After Botley Hill Farm you can take the cycle path down until turning on to the road at Beech Farm Road and following that past the White Bear towards Park Road and the field which runs parrallel to Skid Hill Lane that will take you back to New Addington.
If you fancy a slightly longer ride then you can carry on down the cycle path on Croydon Road/Limpsfield Road, take the path on the right down to Ledgers Road, on road to Church Lane, through Holt Wood on the unmade road and then down (and up) High Hill Road (which is also unmade) before rejoining the route by The White Bear.
