About trip
- Circular walk: 5.8 miles
- what3words address for parking. You could start this walk from any of the three villages it passes through although parking is especially difficult in Lopen. There is usually roadside parking outside the church in Merriott:
- (///stretch.yummy.pollution) and it isn’t normally too difficult to find somewhere to park in the High Street at Hinton St George:

This is an easy, fairly level walk, apart from the hill as you approach Hinton St George from Palmer’s Copse in the north. We walked this anti-clockwise and it is almost entirely on green lanes and footpaths. It’s a lovely walk with variety and a peaceful, attractive landscape. There are also three interesting churches to visit if you have time. We detoured slightly to All Saints Church in Lopen, which is a really sweet little church, where we found a bench in the churchyard for lunch. There are also benches in the other two churches. The route out of Hinton St George towards Merriott is initially on the road and this is a narrow lane with some local traffic, but you soon fork off the lane and back onto a footpath.
There are also many places along this walk where you can either shorten or lengthen it.
