About trip

Start at the The Junction Inn at the Mossley Road/Gorsey Lane junction. Go along Gorsey Lane and shortly turn right and head to Knott Hill reservoir. Bear left   around the reservoir/nature reserve and follow the path to Hartshead Green then left along the path to the main Lees Road. Go straight across and then turn right up to Farm Fields. Turn left at the cross paths and head for Park Bridge. After browsing around and having a coffee break go past the Heritage Centre and tusrn up the hilland follow the unmade road throgh the village. At the end of Dean Terrace turn right down the hill. Turn left past the barrier and through the Rocher Vale cobbled entrance. Walk straight ahead up the slope past the steam hammer and join the path over the footbridge. Turn left past remains of Rocher New Pit and take the marked path to the right uphill and take in the view of Rocher Vale. Cross the style and head for Fields Farm. On reaching the farm track turn left and after a short distance follow the sign to Hartshead Pike. Cross Lees Road, turn left a short distance then right over a stile and follow the path towards Port Mahon Farm. Just before the farm go right over a ditch up to a stile into a field. At the field corner turn left and head up to the Pike. After browsing around head South to Lane End Farm on Lily Lanes. Follow the lane a short distance then turn left down the side of buildings and follow the path past the lane to Crossley's Farm then shortly after turn right across the field with the Hartshead Pub in the distance. Go down the hill and bear right and follow the path to  Knott Hill Nature Reserve then take the left branch back past the golf course back to The Junction Inn.
