Time: 2.5 Hours Terrain: Moderate. Description: The road north from Helmsley to Bransdale must be about the quietest road on the North York Moors. Once it leaves the hamlet of Carlton, the road is the only link with the outside world for a scattering of remote hill farms and forestry workers' homes. Even the chance of meeting other walkers is less likely here than most other routes in the North York Moors.
