About trip
parked up in Ripe and headed towards Ripe Church and across the fields to Chalvington Church. Then southerly path toward Berwick, where the paths just before getting to the Station and along the Vanguard Way turned into a nettle feast. Wearing shorts was not the best idea.
A relatively easy navigation process to walk along the Arlington Reservoir wall and at the end, after passing the bird hide, turn right and then across the fields of maize towards Upper Dicker. Once crossing over and walking down through the Dental Barn, you can easily find you way across to link up with the Vanguard Way again. The final stage of the walk became more tricky as after 8 miles, we were trying to look for the footpath across another field of Maize, which was not there. Even finding you way around the perimeter of the field was a task. Eventually getting through a gate and across another abandoned field, we came to a filed which was penned into separate sections where horses were grazing. A path through them were accessed by a series of electric wired gateways. After almost 4 hours we had completed the 9 mile trek and finished outside the Village Stores.
