About trip

A pleasant walk through the Kent countryside passing Crockham Hill, Chartwell (home of Winston Churchill) and on past Westerham. The walk is adapted from one on the fancy free walks website (https://fancyfreewalks.org/) which has lots of interesting resources. We skirted Westerham but it could make for a pleasant stop for a coffee, or a beer. There is a car park at the eastern edge of the town if you wanted to start the walk from here.

We parked approximately at the point indicated by the what3words address above. There are a couple of free carparks beside this road which is quite a busy B road (B269). We walked the route anti-clockwise.

This is a pleasant walk rather than a classic one with just a little too much tarmac in places, but there are some beautiful stretches and plenty of variety.

The section through the woods can be confusing with lots of well established paths that don’t show on the maps so it’s easy to go astray.
