Grappenhall Ramble, Cheshire

Start at the Royal British Legion on Stockport Road (you should be able to park there fine). Head through onto the Trans Pennine Trail (turning left from the car park), and after a while the trail meets the Bridgewater Canal. Stroll back along the canal until you reach Grappenhall village. Here you can do a loop around the newly planted Grappenhall Wood as shown, or walk back through the residential area to your start point.
