About trip

Parking is at the Grizedale Visitors Centre – a pay car park.

We walked this anti-clockwise, passing the Forestry Commission buidings before heading into the forest and a gradual, steady ascent to Carron Crag with its 360 degree views over the fells. A good place to sit and ponder for a while.

From here the path heads south passing through plantations of pine and deciduous woodland before the more open views as you approach Satterthwaite, where there is a handy pub (should you feel the need for refreshment). You will also pass various sculptures as you walk the Carron Crag section which add something different to the walk.

The paths are generally well marked and this walk basically follows the green markers and then the lilac ones, but the forestry tracks can be confusing.
