The village is the venue for the Belchford Downhill Challenge which takes places every year in the middle of September on Furlong Lane. This exciting and eccentric annual event brings competitors from far and wide in varied and exotic go-carts which pick up terrifying speed on the hill and thread their way through chicanes and cones where many skid off or overturn.
