About trip
The long ridges and deep valleys of the Black Mountains offer splendid walking, and this route from the evocative ruin of Llanthony Priory in the stunningly beautiful Vale of Ewyas reveals some of the finest scenery that this corner oof Wales has to offer. After wandering through woodland and pasture it climbs to the hillside hamlet of Cwmyoy, whose tiny church has miraculously survived 700 years of subsidence. The onward ascent of Hatterrall Hill is rewarded by a satisfying ridge walk before descending to the priory.
