About trip

Park at Brentor free parking with toilets. Have a look at the church perched on top of the Tor. Walk across moors followed by forest walk along dismantled railway. When reaching Lydford gorge tell the reception person you are just walking through so you dont pay entry. Follow the disused railway past end barrier. At times it looks like the path ends when looking ahead but stick with it it is well worth it. At times the track is 100ft elevated then cuts through deep gorges. Amazing engineering in natural unspoiled forest without change for centuries. Lots of deer and badger prints in the mud. (muddy in places) After crossing the second bridge you have to leave the dismantled railway as it becomes private land. Railway is an amazing part of the walk. Unfortunately the PH near end is not a pub at moment.
