About trip
It’s easy to underestimate the Malverns if you live nearby. They dominate the skyline so thoroughly that you start to take their presence for granted and decide they’re just too familiar, and definitely too popular. You’re into tougher stuff, remoter places, and you go elsewhere for your walking. But then, for whatever reason, you go back to the Malverns, and you’re knocked out by the spectacular views, the exhilarating ridge-walking, the glorious woodlands and the lack of other people away from the main honeypots. And you ask yourself how you could have forgotten how terrific these hills are? So ditch your doubts, get up onto the roof of Worcestershire and take in a view which encompasses 15 (yes, 15) counties. Whether it be in the copper of late-autumn sunlight or the hard, low glare of winter, the Malverns are proper hills waiting to be appreciated by proper hillwalkers (that’s you).
