About trip
Story: A great day's walking with Roger & Karen. We set out from Penderyn about 10:30 and got back just after 5:00 having stopped for a half at The Angel Inn in Pontneddfechan, our lunch by the horse-shoe waterfall on the Nedd Fechan just below Scwd Ddwli on the nant Nedd Fechan, and an ice-cream stop as we crossed over from the Nedd Fechan to the Mellte valleys - a really useful garage/shop to know about when you're on walk on a hot afternoon! We left a couple of waterfalls - for the next time - but in splendid sunny weather took in most of the highlights of this exceptional walk including the walk behind the waterfall at Sgwd yr Elra - I didn't walk behind it, I forded the stream, but Roger & Karen did once I'd discovered that the path was easily taken. I'd not done the walk from Penderyn to Pontneddfechan before, it was a really pleasant surprise - we took in a diversion down into the valley of the Nant Sych-yd below Dinas Rocks where mining had taken place in the past - spectacular! We finished the day at the Lamb Hotel in Penderyn where a pint of Ansells was less than £2.00 - excellent!
