About trip
GPX file edited and compressed with GPSPrune. Not too demanding a ride which starts and ends at the Bath exit of
the Bristol and Bath Railway Path. Within 5 minutes you leave the
traffic behind to begin a very gentle ascent via Linear Park to the Two
Tunnels (Sustrans Route 244) with the second of these, the Combe Down
Tunnel being the longest pedestrian/cycle tunnel in the UK. N.B. GPS
signals will be lost during the tunnel phases. After exiting the second
tunnel it's onwards to join the Colliers' Way (Sustrans Route 24) which
will take you first to Wellow and Shoscombe via quiet single track roads
to join the cycle path to Radstock which connects to another cycle path
which exits near Great Elm (which is only a short distance from Frome
via quiet country lanes). There are a couple of challenging hills on the
way but nothing a good gear range can't cope with. There is a nice cafe
at the end of the Frome end and then it's a reversal of the route back
to Bath.
