About trip
A huge 3D map of Scotland is an extraordinary discovery on this walk from Eddleston. Head north between the lime trees of old Edinburgh Road, parallel to the A703. At the Scots Pine Tearooms cross the main road and walk north along the verge, taking the first left to Darnhall Mains. After climbing
the hill, you'll head through a farmyard and join on a stony track, climbing west to the Old Post Road at Hare Laws. Stop to take in the
lovely countryside views. Turn left at a sign for Eddleston via Barony. The path goes through a wood and down a steep bank to enter Barony Castle grounds. Zigzag along a path, then over a burn, turn right, and shortly after recross the burn. Follow the path to see the
surprising view of Scotland in the
shape of the 3D map. A metal
bridge leads the way past the hotel into a car park and back into
Eddleston.
