About trip
The coast of Orkney is stunning, and this short walk to the east takes in a host of fabulous views and wildlife. Go in summer,
and you'll be stunned by the colourful wild flowers. Look out, too, for numerous bird species, such as bantailed godwit, knot and
dunlin. The route heads south east from the car park along a coastal path and through sand dunes for superb views of the Holm coastline and the green farmland of St
Andrews. At the most south easterly point you'll discover a sea stack and Muckle Castle.
This is a volcanic plug, just like the rock that Edinburgh Castle sits upon. Look out for an
impressive sea cave towards the end of the coastal part of the walk, too.
