About trip

With history, lochs and fine views of braes (hills) madefamous in a song, Wild Mountain Thyme, it's no wonder that the village of Balquhidder is popular. It was in these hills that the intrepid outlaw Rob Roy also found some of his battles.

Heading from Balquhidder, by Loch Voil, this high level walk offers
wonderful glen views, in both Kirkton Glen and Glen Dochart, and
the striking Braes of Balquhidder.

Follow the signed path to
Kirkton Glen. After approximately 3 km, at a junction, follow the
small footpath, signed Glen Dochart. You'll pass remote Lochan
an Eireannaich to begin the 3.5 km descent to Glen Dochart. The
views include the Corbett Meall an t-Seallaidh to the east and The
Stob (Meall na Frean) to the west.
