The Forest of Clunie Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection
Area (SPA) is made up of five moorland areas totalling19,477 hectares in size.
It is of outstanding interest for its variety of upland breeding birds. In particular, it is internationally important, and has been made an SPA, for hen harrier, osprey, short-eared owl and merlin.
