Start at the Village pub in Farnley Tyas anhead across the toad and bear left down Manor Lane to the end at Netherton and over the style and cross the fields and down through Range Dyke and North Spring wood to Woodsome Lees. Bear left along Woodsome Hall Lane to Woodsome Hall. Either follow the lane down to Woodsome Road (as shown on the map) or preferably bear left across the golf course through Birks Wood and arrive at Woodsome Road. Cross the main road and go down St.Helens Gate road. Follow the road up to St.James school and turn leftup yhe drive and bear right and follow the path up to Grasscroft. Turn right and then left along Kaye lane. Turn left at Wheatroyd and right across the fields to Castle Hill. Go round the hill and down the steps from the tower to the road. Turn left and go down Lumb lane and take the style on the right jyst before the white farmhouse. Go straight across the fields to Castle Houses then turn left and follow the path across the fields with the WW2 site on your right. After browsing the site carry on back on the pagh to Farnkey Hey and turn left following the fiekd th bear right and head across the fields and back up the lane the Golden Cock pub.
