About trip

A very pleasant walk which combines some woodland paths with glorious open skies and views from on and around the highest point of the downs in the vicinity. An excellent country pub makes this one of my favourite walks in the area.

If you are not planning to visit the pub, you can pull in beside the road at the start of the route as shown, but if you are going to visit the Royal Oak as I would recommend (http://www.royaloakhooksway.co.uk/), they have a carpark at the bottom of the hill for patrons only.

You could of course park at Harting Down (The carpark is shown on the map just West of the most Westerly part of the route and connects to the route with a very obvious path) if you wish to e.g. have lunch at the pub and split the walk in two, rather than ending at Hooksway.
