About trip

Time: 2 Hours Terrain: Easy Description: Quite often a romantic sounding place name can prove to be a disappointment and anyone visiting this area for the first time can be excused a passing cynicism at the name Whisper Dales. However, here the name fits the situation and Whisper Dales once discovered remains a pleasurable memory for a long time. The road from Scarborough follows the edge of a northeast facing escarpment where the gentle southwest slopes are clothed in plantations of mixed conifers. Deep valleys bite into the escarpment, and farms make the most of the shelter offered by the forest and a sunny aspect. The ambience of silent forest and farmland is, with the exception of the architecture, reminiscent of the Black Forest in Germany.
