About trip
Distance: 5 Miles Time: 3 Hours Terrain: Moderate. Description: The walk takes us down through Levisham Dale, the first of the four dales, then into Newton Dale where steam trains thread their way from Pickering to Grosmont and Whitby. A short but steep climb up Cross Dale and a stretch of farmland and forest on either side of the A169 leads to Dalby Dale. Lockton is a pleasant little village just far enough away from traffic to be unaffected and the Church at which the walk starts is simple with a pretty stained window.
