About trip

-3. Head uphill from parking space above Le Talbooth (outside Woodside House). At junction, use footpath at roadside (woodland on right). Turn right on to Essex Way (signposted) through large gates. Follow lane, passing Cosgrove Lodge on right, then Langham church. At gateway to Langham Hall, turn right past entrance to church.

-6. At double fork after church and house, go right, then left, following track next to fence as it descends by wood on left, then passes between fields to hedge. Do not go through gap in hedge, but turn left, following yellow arrow for Essex Way. Continue through two fields (signposted) to a stile, and cross.

-8. Cross field to double stile leading on to track. Turn left and continue to road. Cross and take signposted path opposite. Cross field, plank bridge, then track, to continue with ditch on left and another field on right. Continue following clearly signed path to narrow lane. Turn left for around 30m, then go right on track.

-11. Just before Plumb's Farm, turn right off Essex Way. When garden fence goes left, carry on straight across field, keeping large tree on right. Head into woodland and continue straight up to pond. Turn right and follow path around pond through wood. At edge of wood, cross plank bridge, turn right, then right again.

-14. Follow edge of wood on right, then edge of field (ditch on right). At T-junction of roads, cross and take road straight ahead with reservoir to left. After Docuras Farm, at T-junction with another road, go left. At waterworks by Low Lift Cottages, turn right to join Stour Valley Path (signposted). Continue through fields, passing Broomhouse on left.

-16. Continue through more fields, still signposted, to reach river Stour. Turn left, then right, to continue close to river on left. When you reach stile, cross and bear right diagonally across field.

-18. Cross stile at far side of field, then over footbridge across weir and out to road. Turn right, past Black Horse Inn on left. Re-cross river; Le Talbooth is on right.
