Route follows Sheffield Country Walk climbing steeply out of the Don Valley. Then a footpath at Hunter House Farm goes through woodland to join Barnsley Boundary Walk and Wharncliffe woods, then steep farmland, and fields through to Holbrook. Crossing 2 major roads, one on flat other on a bridge climb through woodland to Back Lane. Go under M1 and enter woodland. Follow faint footpath to emerge on A6135. Cross and enter woodland and walk to road. Go past Furnace Inn and turn right along minor road to reach railway station.
