About trip
9 Miles. A large proportion of this walk is through the extensive woodlands, mainly of beech and oak, that clothe much of the country between Chedworth and Withington on the western slopes of the Coln valley. In the middle of these woods, occupying a platform above the valley, is one of the most complete Roman villas in England. This villa and the villages of Chedworth and Withington are the three focal points of the walk. There is much to enjoy: fine scenery and pleasant woodland as well as the two outstandingly attractive villages - both with interesting churches and hospitable inns - and the historic appeal of the Roman villa.
