About trip

This is a fairly easy walk over quite friendly terrain to what has been voted by many as the finest beach in Britain. In total its about 8 miles and there are facilities at the start/finish point which comprise of a small car park and public toilets.

Sandwood Bay is a wild untamed place with pure white sand and crystal clear water.  Behind the beach is a large loch which has a variety of wildlife and rare sea birds.

This is a delightful walk, and although is 8 miles in length (there and back) it is well worth the effort. There are no steep hills and very little chance of getting lost as the trail is well defined.

In this remote and rugged part of Britain, the weather can change suddenly and rain squalls and gales can arrive from the Atlantic with little warning. Most of the walk is over exposed moorland terrain and taking appropriate clothing is advised.
