About trip
- Circular Walk: 5.77 miles
- what3words address for parking; We walked this route from where we were staying at Sugarloaf Vineyard and didn’t need a parking place, however there are two car parks you could use and then a short walk gets you onto this route. The largest one is at
- ///canines.spillage.thinker and there is another at
- ///pitch.tailwind.book which is much smaller. Both get busy! The lanes leading to both are narrow with few passing places and not recommended for large/wide vehicles.
We walked this route anti-clockwise on a hot day. The climb to the summit of Sugarloaf from this direction is shorter but steeper than if you choose to walk the route clockwise. The clockwise option is a longer, steadier climb. The last section is strenuous whichever way you walk it. The views from the walk are stupendous and well worth the effort whichever way you choose. The views from the top are far reaching and fabulous.
There are multiple ways up and down Sugarloaf and it’s easy to make it up as you go along, which is how we walked it.
There is a very good, popular cafe at Sugarloaf Vineyard if you need a coffee and a bite to eat. The cafe isn’t open on Mondays or Tuesdays.
