About trip

The what3words address takes you to roadside parking where there is room on the verge. Please park carefully and considerately.

This was a lovely walk on a beautiful, sunny day in mid June. We walked this one anticlockwise and the paths are, with one exception, obvious and clear. Great views, rolling hills and huge skies.

Cross over the lane and, beside the track to Gorse Farm, there is a footpath leading west towards Salmonby. Just before you reach the lake at Salmonby the footpath crosses through the hedge. We managed to miss the gap for this and ended up stepping over a low barbed wire fence where a very large tree had come down. The wire looked new; maybe this was the right place, maybe it was a little further back along the path or, maybe, there’s an alternative closer to the lake. Where we hesitated and backtracked a little is clear on the GPX track and I’ve left it deliberately to indicate where you may need to be more observant than we were!

From Salmonby we walked along the lane for a little way before taking a footpath north towards Grange Farm and then following a path towards Tetford where, again, the route follows the lane briefly before continuing west along Platts Lane. According to the OS map this is the course of a Roman road.

Just before Glebe Farm Low Yard the path turns right and then  left before joining a lane (Lowfield Lane). Turn left along here towards Belchford. After just under a mile, in Belchford itself, a track leads off the lane southwards; this is the ‘Viking Way’ and the track soon becomes a footpath that  leads south and back to the starting point in Fulletby.
