About trip
Distance: 3.5 Miles Time: 1.75 Hours Terrain: Moderate Description: The village of Blanchland, though only small is one of the finest in Northumbria and its pastoral elegance comes as something of a surprise amidst the bleak moors and hills of the area. The greater part of the settlement was built in the 18th Century, on the site of a 12th Century abbey, but the great gate-house on one side of the square is older; it dates from the 15th Century.
