About trip
Distance: 2-4 Miles Time: 1-2 Hours Terrain: Moderate Description: Boulby is a tiny coastal village near the southern border of Cleveland, on the edge of the industrial area around the mouth of the River Tees. The area is dominated by the chimneys of the huge Boulby Potash Mine, the shafts and galleries of which reach out far under the North Sea. Site of the highest cliffs in England, these slopes were once mined for alum. These mines can still be seen from the cliff-top path.
