The first mention of Rothbury was around the year 1100 and it was chartered as a market town in 1291 becoming an important centre for dealing in cattle and wool. Surrounded by stunning countryside in the shape of moorland, crags, dales and woodland, it has become a welcoming centre for many outdoor activities and affords abundant scenic walking opportunities.
