About trip
Based on a route by Keith Fergus in his excellent guid to walks in the (much neglected) Ochil hills. The walk starts on the outskirts of Dollar before climbing past Castle Campbell then straight up Saddle Hill. At just over 2000ft this climb can be a shock to the system, but once up there the views across central Scotland are excellent, with both Glasgow and Edinburgh visible on clear days. From there, you ridge walk north across several hills before descending to the charming wee village of Glendevon, which has several really nice places for linch and a beer. The return rout is straight along the glen floor and past the reservoir back to Dollar.
