We walked this anti-clockwise starting in Bowmore, where there is usually space for parking in the main street, and passing the distillery on the way out. If you visit the distillery it may be better to do so on your return to Bowmore …
Very soon you have the beach to yourself. The route comes off the beach at Gartbreck and then continues along the coast until you reach Laggan. The abandoned house at Gartbreck is due to become the site of a new distillery. A dispute has left it in limbo for a couple of years, but if construction finally starts then the route from the beach will obviously have to change somewhat.
The route is very easy to follow and is on well marked tracks, apart from the initial walk along the beach.
