This is an easy, short walk with the sole objective of visiting Men-An-Tol, a monument that is believed to date to the Bronze Age making it around 3,500 years old. The unique feature is a roughly circular stone with a large hole through it – rather like a polo mint! Actually, it’s ‘almost unique’ as there’s just one other example in Cornwall near Gweek. It’s an extraordinary place, especially if you can time your arrival with a spectacular sunset.
The walk continues past the stones before looping back to the start. However, a glance at an OS map will show that there are various options for extending the walk and this part of Cornwall, West Penrith, is packed with ancient monuments, some of which can easily be accessed from Men-An-Tol.
