About trip

We walked this anti-clockwise from the village along the southern edge of the lake before turning inland for the return loop. It gets busy at weekends and in high season by the dam and then parking can be tricky, although there is more parking at Llechwedd-du (///marzipan.success.shrugging).

Construction on the dam started in 1881 and was completed in 1888. The reservoir was built to supply Liverpool (68 miles away) with drinking water. The straining tower is interesting and was built in the Gothic Revival style
