About trip
Distance: 4.25m Time: 2.5 Hours Terrain: Moderate Description: Sitting on the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the town of Louth is presided over by the 15th Century Church of St James which has the tallest spire of any English medieval church. Our route gives us a good look at the church as we pass next to it and then heads west to Hubbard’s Hills to follow a spectacular 130ft deep gorge. Originally cut by glacial melt-water, the flat bottomed valley now contains the gently meandering River Lud which is much too small to have cut such a deep valley.
